What a day this has been!

Early wake-up call so the men could get to the cattle pens before the trucker arrived. While they were busy loading the "fats" on the semi to go to the Holcomb processing plant, I prepared the "cowboy breakfast" they are used to. They always enjoy the pancakes, bacon, juice, and eggs.

While I was cleaning up the breakfast dishes, Tyler was calling around to find a front tire for the tandem truck. That tire evidently took a stone bruise and broke yesterday evening. It was flat this morning with a big break down the side.

Elmer and I went to Dodge City (a 120 mile round trip) in the pickup for a tire. While the shop was mounting the tire, we bought a few food items and ate lunch.

We got home about 2:30 p.m. and changed clothes while the wheel was being put on the truck. Then we went to the field to chop silage.

It was so hot again today. The story is we’ve had a record number of days of over 100 degrees this year. We got in about 8:30 p.m., took a load of water to the north pasture (almost no wind again today), Elmer fed his calf, I watered the yard plants, supper, bath and bed – 11 p.m.
